Instructors at the Academy of the Arts-Denver are working professionals in the entertainment industry. Each has years of training and experience in many aspects of entertainment including acting, music, singing, songwriting, recording, film production, management, talent scouting, performing, touring, and teaching. Our staff works from their experience to coach and prepare each student giving them the tools they need for excellence.
Stuart Whitmore is the founder and CEO/Producer/Director of “All That” Entertainment, LLC, a production company that operates and manages the Academy of the Arts-Denver. In addition to operating the business, Stuart acts as a producer/director of the company’s entertainment productions and is a Master vocal, guitar, and performance coach. Stuart holds a degree in Theater and Music from the University of Northern Colorado. He brings to the arena of coaching and preparation of artists a long and productive career as a working singer, actor, musician, songwriter, teacher, and Talent Scout for the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, CA.
Acting Instructor, began her acting career as a teenager in Colorado. She has acted in many local commercials and has starred in a wide range of independent films. In 2009 she was awarded Best Dramatic Performance in Denver’s Underground Film Festival. In addition, she is a ballet and jazz dancer, speaks Polish, does British and Southern accents, and enjoys swimming, bowling and snow skiing. She and her husband, Troy, own and operate Galloping Metal Productions, LLC.
Talent Coordinator, began her career at Denver’s Vannoy Talent Agency. She and her former husband, Jeb Nolan, founded Kidskits Inc. which included a performing company, talent agency, training center, and publishing company. Under the Kidskits umbrella, Maggie wrote 17 musical comedies for kids which were performed at the Comedy Works downtown, Elitch’s, the Buell Theatre, the Civic Theatre, the Vogue Theatre, and dozens of schools and special events. She was also the office manager and booking agent. She and her husband, Steve, run the theatre program at South Broadway Christian Church.
Basic, Advanced Acting, and Scene Study Instructor, began his professional acting career at the age of 16 in “Ben Franklin in Paris” starring Robert Preston. He went on to appear on stages across the country as well as off-Broadway. He studied at the renowned Michael Chekov Studio and is a graduate of New York City’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is happily married and is the Consumer Advocate for the Mental Health Center of Denver.
As the youngest member of our staff, Drew Torres has been involved in music for most of his life. In addition to playing the piano, saxophone, guitar, bass, and singing, Drew is an accomplished writer and recording artist. His areas of expertise from the Music Industry Studies program at the University of Colorado are in pop, jazz, and classical music. This very talented musician uses a technique of teaching students to read music as well as playing by ear. He has long been involved in the music and worship department of his church as well as some of his recent activities, playing for the Step Into Africa, World Vision Experience: AIDS Tour, lead singer and musician for the Christian rock band Rough Draft, and lead singer for the band Mr. Right.
Dance Coach and Choreographer for the company’s Rising Star Performing Arts Camps and Events, Paige’s youthful energy and maturity beyond her years add a contemporary creative element to our staff. Having Paige on board is an honor, as her main gig is dancing at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, where she works in the Entertainment Department. That all started when she became an intern in the Walt Disney College Program. In high school, she was on the varsity dance team that won multiple state and national competitions at Disney World’s ESPN complex. Paige has appeared in many musical theatre productions and is an excellent musician on the violin. Her leadership skills combined with extensive talent and training, have given her the ability to quickly whip into shape a room full of performers, beginner to professional, and bring them to a higher level of show. And to top it off, our students love Paige, as her sincere intent is to make each one of them shine.
Doug Gallob is a Technical Director and recording engineer with a B.S.E.E. from the University of Colorado, where he also studied music theory and trombone. His background includes theater, TV, film, film production, and commercials. Doug trains students of sound engineering for the recording studio and live performance. Additionally, Doug teaches and coaches voice, electric bass, guitar, performance, and music theory. He has written, performed, and produced a CD of original music, and currently performs with the bluegrass group “Just Desserts.”
